Head of Product
32–38 hours per week | Amsterdam | Start date by mutual agreement
Gray Label is an Amsterdam-based baby and children's clothing brand founded on the idea that less can be enough. We create premium essentials made from soft, organic materials—minimalist, timeless, and designed to last. From our office in Amsterdam, we work with a small and dedicated team on our permanent Essentials collection and two seasonal capsule collections each year.
We are looking for a Head of Product to oversee the entire product process—from collection planning and product development to sourcing, buying, inventory management, and delivery. Someone who can think strategically while staying closely involved in the day-to-day process. You understand quality, timing, margins, and supplier relationships, and know how to take a collection from concept to delivery.
The Role
In this role, you will be ultimately responsible for the product process behind Gray Label. You will work closely with design, sales, e-commerce, retail, production partners, and our warehouse team. You will maintain the balance between brand, product, quality, margins, and inventory. You ensure collections are developed successfully, suppliers are managed effectively, and products arrive on time, meet quality standards, and align with our brand values.
Your Responsibilities
Product & Collection Management
You translate commercial objectives into a strong and balanced assortment. You oversee pricing, margins, quality, fit, material selection, and product data. You also identify opportunities for product improvements, replenishment, and optimization of existing styles.
Sourcing & Supplier Management
You maintain and develop relationships with our production partners and suppliers. You negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and terms, while monitoring quality, planning, and delivery performance. You will regularly visit suppliers in countries including Portugal and Turkey.
Planning, Buying & Inventory
You are responsible for buying planning, forecasting, and inventory strategy. You monitor stock levels, replenishment, sell-through performance, slow-moving inventory, and allocation across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels.
Quality & Compliance
You ensure product quality, certifications, and documentation are maintained to the highest standards. This includes certifications such as GOTS, RWS, and GRS, as well as relevant legal and regulatory requirements. You oversee audits and drive continuous improvements throughout the supply chain.
Team & Process Management
You lead the Product Team and bring structure to processes, planning, workflows, and product data management. You actively contribute to the continued professionalization and growth of the organization.
About You
- You have at least 5–10 years of experience in product development, buying, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within fashion, lifestyle, or premium consumer goods.
- You are commercially minded, analytical, and highly organized. You understand product development, materials, and quality, as well as margins, timing, and inventory management. You are strategically strong but equally comfortable being hands-on when needed.
- You communicate clearly, build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where there is still plenty of room to build and improve.
- In addition, you have experience with ERP systems, Excel, and product management processes. You are fluent in both Dutch and English and are willing to travel internationally several times a year.
What We Offer
A key role within a growing, founder-led brand with a clear identity and vision. You will have significant responsibility and direct influence on collections, product quality, operational processes, and the continued development of Gray Label.
You will work in a small, dedicated team from our bright office in the heart of Amsterdam.
We offer employment conditions in line with the MITT Collective Labour Agreement (CAO), including a pension scheme, a competitive salary based on experience and expertise, and staff discounts on our collections. Interested?
