GOTS
We are a GOTS certified company. From farming to manufacturing to packaging, discover what this certification means in our mission to be as organic and fair as possible
For the little one's future planet, we aim for the best possible when integrating sustainable and socially responsible practices in everything we do. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. A product can only be certified when the entire production chain, from harvesting to the finished product, meets the requirements. A Gray Label product carrying the GOTS label contains a minimum of 95% certified organic cotton fibres.
Farming to the GOTS agricultural standards does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMO's (genetically modified organisms). Consequently, the soil isn’t damaged, the impact on the air is reduced, the use of water is saved by 88% and the use of energy by 62%. Growing GOTS certified organic cotton keeps farmers and their families safe. They are not exposed to toxic chemicals in the field or through their food and water supply. It also means farmers can grow more than one crop which supplements their food and income.
Every single person who works in the chain is important. Through GOTS certification, social criteria based on the norms of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) must be met by all processors and manufacturers. This assures that numerous people are protected and fairly paid. During production, chemical inputs such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries must meet environmental and toxicological criteria. A functional wastewater treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved.
Unfortunately, we can’t do without packaging. We simply need to label and protect the items during transport from our production units to our warehouse, and accordingly to our consumers. Following the GOTS requirements we use recycled materials and no materials containing PVC. We’re continuously looking for improved solutions in terms of environmental impact.
To buy GOTS certified products cotton means to invest in water and energy savings, cleaner air, better soil and improved livelihoods.
You can make a difference. By preferring GOTS certified over non-certified products you create the power to influence brands, manufacturers and even farmers. Join us being in it for the little ones. We're doing it for their future, their purity, their planet.
